Tagore I

Light, oh, where is the light? Kindle it with the burning fire of desire! It thunders and the wind rushes screaming through the void. The night is black as a black stone. Let not the hours pass by in the dark. Kindle the lamp of love with thy life.

-XXVII, Gitanjali.
By Rabindranath Tagore.

Rumi

Rumi was a Persian poet and a Sufi Mystic. Below is a collection of some of his works, translated into English.

QUATRAINS

[1]
Bring the pure wine of
love and freedom.
But sir, a tornado is coming.
More wine, we'll teach this storm
A thing or two about whirling.
[2]
The Lover is ever drunk with Love.
He is mad,
she is free.
He sings with delight,
she dances with ecstasy.
Caught by our own thoughts,
we worry about everything.
But once we get drunk on that Love
whatever will be, will be.

 [3]
When I am with you, we stay up all night,
When you're not here, I can't get to sleep.
Praise God for these two insomnias!
And the difference between them.

[4]
Let the lover be disgraceful, crazy,
absentminded. Someone sober
will worry about things going badly.
Let the lover be.

Mother

Mother is
Prithvi - all encompassing,
Jal - flowing love,
Agni - ever young, immortal,
Marut - exceptionally beautiful,
Aakash - the basis and essence of everything.

My childhood days were filled with the love and light that every child rightfully deserves from the time she even begins to be a child.
‘Childhood’, the word stirs in me a few feelings, brings to me some moments, a few stories, though mostly incomplete and infinite poetry, thoroughly forgotten, some fairies, some Gods, some magic and my mother.

'Semul' dreams

Clipped-winged,
tongue-curried.
Vibrant, glossy, proud!

    She     would     sing     of     memories     of     d   r   e   a   m   s.

          Dreams.
           Semul   seeds-
               luminescent, silken, weightless, floating
                    here,             there,           everywhere;           staying
                      n         o           w           h           e            r             e.

                          Trapped.
                            Soft,
                               beautiful  heart
                                 behind     cold     bars,
                                    in her sweet (curried-tongue) voice
                                       she would sing      S       e       m       u       l            d      r      e      a      m      s.

When Harry Met Sally

Harry Burns: I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
